Terms of Service
SoundStash is self-hosted open-source software. You run it on your own server. These terms cover use of the SoundStash software and the iOS companion app available on the App Store.
1. Agreement to Terms
By using the SoundStash software or the SoundStash iOS app, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the software.
2. Description of Service
2.1 Web Application
SoundStash is a self-hosted, Docker-based audio library manager that runs on your own server. Features include:
- Downloading audio from supported sources
- Organising and managing your personal audio library
- Streaming and playing audio content
- Creating and managing playlists
- Plex Media Server integration
- Series and collection management
2.2 iOS Companion App
The SoundStash iOS app connects to your self-hosted SoundStash server to provide:
- Offline access to your SoundStash library
- Downloading tracks for offline listening
- Audio playback with resume, speed control, and visualiser
- Series and collection browsing
3. In-App Purchases (iOS)
3.1 SoundStash Unlimited
SoundStash Unlimited is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase available for GBP 0.99 that removes the download limit in the iOS app. This purchase is permanent, does not expire, and does not auto-renew. Once purchased, SoundStash Unlimited is yours to keep.
3.2 Free Tier
The iOS app allows a limited number of free offline downloads. Full unlimited download access requires the purchase of SoundStash Unlimited.
3.3 Purchase Processing
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. SoundStash does not collect or store your payment information.
3.4 Restore Purchases
You can restore your purchase on any device signed in with the same Apple ID. To restore, go to Settings and tap Restore Purchases within the iOS app.
3.5 Refunds
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
4. User Responsibilities
4.1 Content Compliance
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to download, import, and use all content in your SoundStash library. SoundStash does not condone copyright infringement.
4.2 Acceptable Use
- Use SoundStash for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Respect copyright and intellectual property rights of content creators and rights holders
5. Copyright Notice
You are solely responsible for the legality of any content you download, import, or store using SoundStash. SoundStash is a tool for managing audio content. It does not host, distribute, or endorse any content. Content obtained from YouTube and other sources remains subject to the rights of the original copyright holders.
6. Third-Party Services
SoundStash functionality depends on third-party services including YouTube (via yt-dlp), Plex, and the Apple App Store. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or terms of use of these external services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
SoundStash is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Because SoundStash is self-hosted software, you are responsible for your own server uptime, data backups, security configuration, and network access.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of SoundStash shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the software or the iOS app. For the iOS in-app purchase, total liability is limited to the amount you paid for SoundStash Unlimited.
9. Open Source
The SoundStash web application is open-source software available under the MIT licence. The iOS companion app is a separately distributed product available on the Apple App Store.
10. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of SoundStash shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be effective when posted on this page. Your continued use of SoundStash after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
